Responsibilities:

  • Create electronic documents using word processing and desktop publishing tools to develop and maintain manuals that provide instructions and information necessary to allow aviation personnel the ability to perform their duties and responsibilities with a high degree of safety;
  • Compose and format technical documents that include Transport Canada guidance and aircraft graphics;
  • Technical writing duties include researching, documenting, and developing detailed procedures to include operator, checklists, technical specifications, field alert bulletins, training materials, and other procedures and reports to Company requirements;
  • Develop and review technical documents for content, accuracy, and format;
  • Working with Structured-Authoring Software, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Adobe Illustrator, Visio, SGML-based writing, Microsoft SharePoint, and other applications, including interactive manuals and desktop publishing;
  • Work with all departments, including but not limited to Flight Operations, Maintenance, Inflight Services, Airport Services and Dispatch to ensure quality and interfaces are considered;
  • Assist the Director of Flight Operations or Director of Maintenance in designing process measurements that show how well the manuals are working;
  • Prepare for and facilitate the audit process during required audits (i.e. TCCA, BARS, C7, and ARGUS);
  • Use the TCCA inspector’s safety audit tools to collect data that will be used to evaluate the quality of the written processes to preform self-audits;
  • Publishing Electronic Documents to a Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) platform;
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Experience and/or knowledge in electronics relevant to the essential functions of this job description;
  • Must demonstrate a basic technical understanding of aviation and technical writing/editing practices and standards, as well as have knowledge of the documentation of technical manuals and documentation;
  • Understanding of aviation systems and their interfaces;
  • Experience with desktop publishing tools and word processing;
  • Must possess the ability to grasp new concepts quickly;
  • Able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
