The airport base coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supervising aircraft operations and maintenance at a specific airport base in Yellowknife. The position holder ensures that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations while fostering open and motivating dialogue with base employees.

responsibilities:

Airport Operations Management:
  • Supervise preventive and corrective aircraft maintenance operations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to plan regular inspections, repairs, and aircraft revisions according to manufacturers' and regulatory authorities' requirements.
  • Track parts shipments and conduct weekly inspections.
  • Control hazardous materials in accordance with current standards and regulations.
Regulatory Compliance Management:
  • Ensure that all airport base activities comply with government regulations and aviation industry standards.
  • Coordinate regular inspections conducted by civil aviation authorities and follow up on necessary recommendations and corrections.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and inspections to ensure compliance and operational safety.
  Emergency and Critical Situation Management:
  • Develop emergency plans to handle incidents such as aircraft failures, accidents, or extreme weather conditions.
  • Coordinate emergency responses, including rescue and recovery operations in case of incidents, in collaboration with relevant teams.
  Relationship Management and Employee Support:
  • Collaborate with airline partners, ground service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of airport activities.
  • Manage requests, concerns, and needs of airlines, passengers, and other customers professionally and efficiently.
  • Initiate constructive dialogue with base employees, support them in their tasks, and motivate them to maintain a productive and safe working environment.

Required skills:

  • Relevant experience in airport operations management, team supervision, and coordination of aviation activities is an asset.
  • Training in hazardous materials management and warehouse management would be beneficial.
  • Proficiency in English, French, and Inuktitut is advantageous.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and be deployed on-site permanently.
  • College or university degree in a related field would be an advantage.
