An initiative by Nolinor Aviation paying tribute to 425 Squadron Alouettes of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Nolinor Aviation is proud to announce that all flights it operates on behalf of the Montreal Alouettes will now carry the flight number NRL425. This is not a simple administrative change; it is a deliberate and meaningful gesture by a company that believes aviation has the power to bring people together around what truly matters. Behind this number lies a story of courage, national pride, and continuity across generations.

425 Squadron: a legacy in flight since 1942

425 Squadron “Alouettes” was founded on June 25, 1942, in Dishforth, England, as part of Canada’s war effort. Composed largely of French-Canadian airmen, this bomber squadron carried out more than 3,000 combat missions over Europe, often at great personal risk to its members. After the war, it transitioned into a fighter squadron and is now based at 3 Wing Bagotville in Quebec, where it operates CF-18 Hornet fighter jets to defend Canadian airspace.

It was this legendary squadron that lent its name to the Montreal Alouettes at the founding of the football club in 1946, a tribute to the Quebec airmen who had fought for freedom. To this day, the connection between the team and the squadron remains strong, and it is precisely this bond that Nolinor Aviation has chosen to honour.

Why did Nolinor take this initiative?

At Nolinor, we do not operate in a vacuum. We fly for the industries, communities, and institutions that make up Canada. The Canadian Armed Forces are among the clients we have proudly served for many years. Whether it involves logistics support missions, personnel transport, or operations in remote regions, Nolinor delivers with the flexibility and rigor these missions demand.

When reflecting on how to highlight our partnership with the Montreal Alouettes, we saw in the number 425 a unique opportunity to build a bridge between sport, military service, and aviation. It is an initiative that reflects who we are, because it goes beyond a simple commercial agreement, making us proud as a Quebec-based company.

A solutions provider, on the ground and in the air

Our corporate philosophy can be summed up in two words: “Solutions Provider.” We never say no. Whether a client needs a Boeing 737-200 capable of landing on a gravel runway in the Far North, a combi cargo-passenger flight to an isolated community in Nunavut, or a transatlantic charter on short notice, Nolinor finds a way to deliver. This approach is one we share with the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces, who face adversity with the same spirit of resourcefulness and excellence.

The Alouettes embody that same tenacity on the field. Season after season, they fight, adapt, and push their limits. There is something deeply fitting in the fact that Nolinor, an airline that pushes the boundaries of northern aviation, is the one transporting a team named after those who once pushed the limits of the skies in times of war.

One number, one promise

From now on, every time flight NRL425 takes off with the Alouettes on board, it will serve as a quiet yet sincere reminder of everything this number represents. 425: a squadron, hundreds of airmen, a football team, and an airline that believes flying is about far more than transporting people from point A to point B.

Nolinor Aviation thanks the Montreal Alouettes for their trust and pays tribute with great respect to 425 Squadron, as well as to all members of the Canadian Armed Forces, for their invaluable service to Canada.
